Ann, his wife, died on 22 May, 1866 in Shalstone^b6 at the age of fifty-five.

By the time of the 1871 census he was living at Wood Green, Shalstone^k1 with his daughter Jane.

Thomas died at the age of seventy-seven on 8 Jul, 1880 at Huntsmill in Westbury, Buckinghamshire, England^b7. His death was attributed to "natural decay" (death through old age)^b7.
