After a gap I picked up research again, returning to the Harvey family in Risca and working through their 1891 and 1901 census records, alongside the Bryant family in Somerset. I ordered a townland report for Ballymartle in County Cork to try to pin down the Dineen family's origins in Ireland. I also came across some useful new resources: a website mapping 1881 census surname distributions and the book Irish Migrants in Modern Wales, and began looking at Newport workhouse records.
