Ancestry announced the availability of the online version of the 1861 census. I had a hunt for Bridget Dineen. I managed to find this entry which I believe is her mother and father:
1861 Ty Dan y wal, Aberystruth
Name Relation Condition Age Occupation Where Born
Joanna Ford Wife Mar 22 Labourer's wife Monmouth
Mary Ford Daur 1 Monmouth, Risca
Daniel Deenne Head Mar 55 Labourer Ireland, Balemartel
Mary Deenne Wife Mar 46 Ireland, Balethin
Denney Deenne Son 16 Coal Miner Monmouth
Gerimore Deenne Son 9 Scholar Monmouth, Risca
Mary Deenne Daur 7 Monmouth, Risca
John Deenne Son 3 Monmouth, Risca
. . . quoted from RG9-3997-219-25 ()
This is the first time that we have found birthplaces for Daniel Dineen and Mary Nihan. I suspect that their Irish accents were very strong which would explain their unusual name spellings. It once again confirms the link between the Dineen family and the Ford family. Perhaps they came over from Ireland together.
