Today we received the copy of Mary Ann Rymell’s birth certificate that we had ordered:
Birth of Mary Ann Rymell, a girl, 5th February 1846 at Tring. Her father was William Rymell, a
hairdresser. Her mother was Elizabeth Rymell, formerly Parkins. The informant was William
Rymell, father from Tring.

We used 1837 online to try to find William Rymell and Elizabeth Parkins marriage. We searched from Jan 1844 to Dec 1845,this is what we found:
March 1844, Bourn, Elizabeth Parkins, vol 14, p 347
March 1844, Sheffield, Elizabeth Parkin, vol 22, p 365
September 1845, Newington, Elizabeth Parkins, vol 4, p415
September 1844, Kettering, William Rymell, vol 15, p365
December 1845, Berkhampstead, William Rymell, vol 6, p877 and also Elizabeth Perkins.
We ordered the last one from GRO : Merchant’s Reference: 893613 WorldPay Transaction ID: 109420340 We looked for William and Elizabeth’s marriage in the IGI. We found 4 Elizabeth Perkins marrying in 1845, none of whom married a William. There was also an Eliza Parkin - another dead end. We have a mystery here. We know that Mary Ann Rymell’s parents were William and Elizabeth. We know the names of her siblings from the Rymell Sampler. We also know that she was born in Tring. However, the only William Rymell we could find with a Tring association was married to a Lydia C Rymell in 1871 (). William and Lydia were living with children Henry and Emma, both of whom’s ages matched the Harry and Emma on the sampler. We suspect that Elizabeth died and that William subsequently married Lydia. We checked to see if there were any Perkins or Parkins in Tring in the 1871 census - there were none. We still haven’t been able to find Mary Ann’s other siblings in the 1871 census. We believe that Martha and Alfred died in 1859. That leaves John, Lucy and Rebecca unaccounted for. John and Lucy would be 18, Rebecca would be 12. From an earlier GRO search, we have a Henry Rymell dying aged 39 in 1888 in Mile End, London. This could be Mary Ann’s eldest brother. To try and confirm it we looked for him in the 1881 census. We looked for all henrys and harries born in Tring,
