Steph spent the afternoon examining every census page for Tring in 1871, looking for the elusive Janet Rymell. She didn’t find her but did find some Lambournes:

Today, Barry emailed us a transcription of a Rymell sampler owned by Linda’s sister Janet. I tried to locate their births in the GRO. We already had some from a previous search:

Name Event Year Quarter District County Volume Page

I found the marriage of Elizabeth Rymell and William Boon in the GRO:

Marriage of William Boon and Elizabeth Rymall, DEC QTR 1872, Epsom, Surry, Vol2a p9

I tried to find the other Rymell marriages. I found a John Rymell:

Marriage of John Rymell, SEP QTR 1874, Banbury Northants. (To either Sarah Ann Cousins or Ann
 Elizabeth Wiggins)

I tried to find him in the 1881 census. I found one in the right area:

1881 52 Constitution Row, Neithrop

This John Rymill could be the John in the marriage above, but is it John, son of William of Tring? I found a Henry Rymell dieing in London in 1888, aged 39 - the right age to be our Harry/Henry Rymell:

Death of Henry Rymell, MAR QTR 1888, Mile End Old Town, London, Vol 1c p384. Aged 39

While searching for Henry Rymell, I came across a Henry Rymell in Deddington, Oxfordshire:

1871 New St., Deddington, Oxfordshire
                 (Attach:OXFRG10_1444_1447-0474.gif)

Rymell

There was also an Eli Rymell lodging in Deddington with a James Matthews:

Rymell

This Henry is about the right age to be the father of William Rymell. I checked the IGI and found the following baptism:

Baptism of William Rymell 05 MAR 1823, Deddington, Oxford, England. Father Henry Rymell,
 mother Fanny.

I searched the IGI for baptisms of children with parents Henry Rymell and Fanny:

Baptism of Eli Elisha Rymill, 29 Jul 1831, Deddington, Oxfordshire. Parents Henry Rymill and
 Frances
Baptism of Mary Ann Rymill, 19 Dec 1820, Deddington, Oxfordshire. Parents Henry Rymill and
 Frances
Baptism of John Rymil, 13 Oct 1817, Deddington, Oxfordshire. Parents Henry Rymil and Fanny
Baptism of John Rymal, 20 Sep 1818, Deddington, Oxfordshire. Parents Henry Rymal and Fanny

Steph searched for Elizabeth Rymell who married William Boon in various censuses. After a long frustrating search she turned to the IGI to look for potential children. She found the following:

Baptism of Charles Edward Boon, 6 Apr 1874, Saint John, Redhill, Surrey. Father William Boon,
 mother Elizabeth.
Baptism of George Boone, 25 Aug 1872 All Saints, Kempston, Bedford. Father William Boone, mother
 Elizabeth.

We think that to make progress we ought to order some GRO certificates. The ones that will help us the most are:

. Mary Ann Rymell's birth certificate - will give us mother's maiden name and their address. (Birth,
Mary Ann Rymell, MAR QTR 1846, Berkhamsted, vol6, p501)
. Alfred Facer's birth certificate - will give us mother's maiden name and their address. - cannot find
. Annie Tew's birth certificate - will give us mother's maiden name and their address. (Birth, Annie
Louisa Tew, SEP QTR 1874, Towcester, vol3b, p26)
. Henry Alcock and Mary S ??? marriage certificate - will give wife's maiden name - this was probably
  in Ireland though
. Henry Alcock's birth certificate - will confirm whether Mary Sharpe is his mother (Birth, Henry
  Alcock, MAR 1862, Newark, vol 7b, p311)

I ordered those with a reference above. (Merchant’s Reference: 805136, WorldPay Transaction ID: 108129146, ONS Reference: COL625777/2005)
